What’s the difference between Vitamin K2 MK-4 and MK-7?

Vitamin K2 comes in two main forms: MK-4 and MK-7. Both help direct calcium into bones and prevent it from accumulating in arteries, but they work differently in the body.

MK-4 has a short half-life, meaning it clears from the bloodstream quickly and needs to be taken multiple times a day for consistent benefits. It’s often used in very high doses in clinical settings.

MK-7, on the other hand, stays in the body much longer—up to 72 hours—so it only requires one daily dose. It’s also effective at much lower amounts, making it the better choice for most people looking to support bone and heart health.

For everyday supplementation, MK-7 is typically the best option, especially when paired with Vitamin D3 to optimise calcium uptake & utilisation in the body.
