Why does your label not say unbuffered or chelated magnesium? Shouldn't it say this if it's a true magnesium glycinate?

Great question! And the reason why we haven't detailed Unbuffered or Chelated on the label, is because of restrictions by the TGA as to what we can state on the physical label of the bottle.

When we list a supplement with the TGA, we have to choose from a specific list of ingredients. Currently, you are not able to select Unbuffered Magnesium Glycinate or Chelated Magnesium Glycinate.

Brands can choose Magnesium Amino Acid Chelate, Magnesium Amino Acid Chelate is not Magnesium Glycinate.

Magnesium amino acid chelate is magnesium bound to an amino acid ... but there are many different forms of magnesium amino chelates (depending on which amino acid the magnesium is bound to).

The label has to match the the TGA's listing & therefore we are not able to detail Unbuffered Magnesium Glycinate or Chelated Magnesium Glycinate.

The following video details a calculation you can do to see whether a brand is using a true, chelated magnesium glycinate (https://www.instagram.com/p/DCi9s8iyZWT/)

Based on the molecular weights of magnesium & glycine, the elemental magnesium in a true, chelated magnesium glycinate supplement should be no more than 12 - 14% of the total magnesium amount.

Which if you apply this calculation to ours, we come in at exactly 12%.
