Great question and there’s a couple of reasons for this.
The first is that zinc picolinate is currently not an ingredient listed with the TGA which regulates supplements in Australia.
As we’re registered and list all of our products with the TGA, we only use ingredients they’ve ticked off to use.
That doesn’t mean there’s anything necessarily wrong or ‘unsafe’ with picolinate, and I’d be surprised if they didn’t make it available in the future.
But the main reason, from our research and working with raw material suppliers, glycinate has been shown to be one of the most effective forms for raising serum zinc levels.
And depending on the study, more effective than picolinate (an acid sample study https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11677333/).
Both are two of the best forms (we often mention this in our content) and as long as your taking a form with high bioavailability, like these two, you’re going to giving your body what it needs to optimise zinc levels.
